Microsoft TechNet Subscription retirement

Microsoft TechNet

Starting May 2014, all new and renewing Volume Licensing agreements with Software Assurance will no longer include TechNet Subscription services benefits. Microsoft will continue to honor all TechNet Subscriptions for existing Software Assurance customers until the expiration of their current term of Software Assurance coverage or May 31, 2017, whichever is earlier.

The decision to retire the TechNet Subscription service does not impact the TechNet.com site. Microsoft is committed to helping partners and customers through this transition phase and will remain focused on providing IT professionals with free access to a broad set of TechNet assets.

On July 1 st 2013, Microsoft announced the retirement of the TechNet Subscription service to focus on growing its free offerings, including evaluation resources through the TechNet Evaluation Center , expert-led learning through the Microsoft Virtual Academy , and community-moderated technical support through the TechNet Forums . As part of these changes, we are also retiring the TechNet Subscriptions benefit for Software Assurance customers.
