Starting May 2014, all new and renewing Volume Licensing agreements with Software Assurance will no longer include TechNet Subscription services benefits. Microsoft will continue to honor all TechNet Subscriptions for existing Software Assurance customers until the expiration of their current term of Software Assurance coverage or May 31, 2017, whichever is earlier.
Effective March 1, 2014 MSDN Platform will be available in Microsoft Open. An MSDN Platforms subscription conveniently and cost-effectively provides IT Pros and non-Microsoft Developers comprehensive access to the Microsoft platform, services, tools and resources, to support the development and testing of high-quality applications for the Web, Cloud and Windows.

Effective November 1, 2013, Microsoft BizTalk Server (BTS) 2013 Developer Edition licenses will be available under the Developer Tools license model. Previously offered as a free download in prior BTS versions, the new BTS 2013 Developer Edition offers the full functionality of the BTS 2013 Enterprise Edition, licensed for development and test use only, and includes the newly released Host Integration Server (HIS) 2013 software. In recent years, we have seen a usage shift from paid to free evaluation experiences and resources. As a result, Microsoft has decided to retire the TechNet Subscriptions service and will focus on growing its free offerings, including cloud-based evaluation resources through the TechNet Evaluation Center, expert-led learning through the Microsoft Virtual Academy, and community-moderated technical support through the TechNet Forums.
