Instead, expiring subscriptions will use a paid <strong>Extended Service Term (EST)<\/strong> model.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-62519 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.schneider.im\/media\/2025\/08\/SCHNEIDER-IT-MANAGEMENT-2025-08-07-Website-Background-1600x642-1-800x321.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.schneider.im\/media\/2025\/08\/SCHNEIDER-IT-MANAGEMENT-2025-08-07-Website-Background-1600x642-1-800x321.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.schneider.im\/media\/2025\/08\/SCHNEIDER-IT-MANAGEMENT-2025-08-07-Website-Background-1600x642-1-500x201.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.schneider.im\/media\/2025\/08\/SCHNEIDER-IT-MANAGEMENT-2025-08-07-Website-Background-1600x642-1-150x60.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.schneider.im\/media\/2025\/08\/SCHNEIDER-IT-MANAGEMENT-2025-08-07-Website-Background-1600x642-1-768x308.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.schneider.im\/media\/2025\/08\/SCHNEIDER-IT-MANAGEMENT-2025-08-07-Website-Background-1600x642-1-1536x616.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.schneider.im\/media\/2025\/08\/SCHNEIDER-IT-MANAGEMENT-2025-08-07-Website-Background-1600x642-1.avif 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under the EST model, when a CSP subscription\u2019s term ends, customers and partners have three options:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Renew<\/strong> the subscription for a new term (to continue service as normal).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cancel at end of term<\/strong>, ending the service immediately upon expiration. <em>(A new \u201ccancel at end of term\u201d option will be available in CSP systems by January 2026 to facilitate this.)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Enter an Extended Service Term (EST)<\/strong>, a paid monthly extension, to continue service beyond the original end date without interruption.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Availability timeline:<\/strong> Microsoft has been rolling out the EST feature ahead of time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In <strong>November 2025<\/strong>, the EST option became available in partner <strong>sandbox<\/strong> environments for testing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By <strong>January 2026<\/strong>, the Partner Center dashboard will be updated (including the new \u201ccancel at end of term\u201d setting) to support EST.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The EST policy officially takes effect for all applicable CSP subscriptions expiring <strong>on or after April 1, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">What is Extended Service Term (EST)<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Extended Service Term (EST) is a <strong>paid extension period<\/strong> for CSP subscriptions after their scheduled end date. It allows customers to <strong>maintain access to their cloud services while deciding next steps<\/strong>. If a subscription is not renewed or explicitly set to cancel, it will automatically transition into EST once it expires.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>How EST works:<\/strong> During the EST period, service continues <strong>uninterrupted<\/strong> under the expired subscription. The subscription essentially goes month-to-month, billed at the <strong>standard monthly rate plus a 3% uplift<\/strong>, a small surcharge on the regular price. This means you pay a bit more than the normal monthly price to keep using the service after the term end. You can <strong>exit EST at any time<\/strong> \u2013 either by canceling the subscription or by converting to a new standard subscription term (renewing properly).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Comparison with the current grace period model:<\/strong> Today, if a CSP subscription lapses (not renewed), there is a short <strong>free grace period<\/strong> during which services remain available without payment. In other words, customers had a limited time after expiration with no loss of service and no charges, allowing breathing room to decide on renewal. <strong>Starting April 1, 2026, this free grace period will no longer exist.<\/strong> With EST, <em>any<\/em> continued use of the service after the end date will <strong>incur charges (at the 3% higher monthly rate)<\/strong>. In summary: previously you got a brief free extension; going forward you must either renew, stop the service at term end, or pay for an extended term if you need extra time. Customers who need more time to make renewal decisions can keep their cloud services running seamlessly into the EST period.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Paid Monthly Extension:<\/strong> The EST is a <strong>month-to-month extension<\/strong> of the subscription, billed at the normal monthly subscription price <strong>plus a 3% surcharge<\/strong>. (For example, if the monthly rate was $100, EST rate would be $103.) This small uplift aligns with the cost of maintaining services during the extended term.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flexible Cancellation:<\/strong> Customers can <strong>cancel EST at any time.<\/strong> There is no long-term commitment in the extended term.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Renewal or Conversion Options:<\/strong> At any point in EST, you can choose to <strong>renew into a new standard term<\/strong> (for example, start a new annual subscription) or let the EST continue month-to-month. This provides flexibility: you might use EST while finalizing a renewal or migration plan, then either renew fully or stop the service.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Automatic Enrollment if No Renewal:<\/strong> For eligible CSP subscriptions, entering EST will happen <strong>automatically if you take no action<\/strong>. Any subscription that <strong>meets all of the following<\/strong>: 1) was purchased on or after April 1, 2025 (under the new commerce system), 2) expires on or after April 1, 2026, and 3) had auto-renewal turned off, will be seamlessly moved into EST when it expires. There will no longer be a \u201cbuffer period\u201d of free service after a term ends. If you intend to stop using a product at term end, it is important to utilize the new <strong>\u201cCancel at end of term\u201d<\/strong> option (available by early 2026) to ensure you are not charged.
