In December 2025, Microsoft announced the general availability of Windows 365 Reserve<\/strong>, a cloud-based PC service designed to keep employees productive during unexpected device disruptions. This solution provides a ready-to-use Cloud PC when a user\u2019s primary computer is unavailable due to hardware failure, theft, cyberattacks, or shipping delays. Organizations can now purchase and deploy Windows 365 Reserve as part of their Microsoft cloud offerings.<\/p>\n

The service acts as an on-demand backup: employees can activate a temporary Cloud PC for up to 10 days per user per year<\/strong>, ensuring minimal downtime. Think of it as an \u201cinsurance policy\u201d for your workforce.<\/p>\n

What is Windows 365 Reserve?<\/h2>\n

Windows 365 Reserve is part of the Windows 365 family and serves as a cloud PC backup solution<\/strong>. It\u2019s intended for short-term use when a physical PC becomes unavailable. Each licensed user gets up to 10 days of Cloud PC access annually<\/strong>, which can be used in one stretch or split across multiple incidents.<\/p>\n

When an issue occurs, users can log into their Reserve Cloud PC from any available device\u2014such as a spare laptop, personal computer, or tablet – and continue working with their usual apps and files. The Cloud PC mirrors the user\u2019s work environment, including Microsoft 365 apps, company applications, settings, and security policies.<\/p>\n

IT admins can pre-configure Reserve Cloud PCs using Microsoft Intune<\/strong>, enabling rapid provisioning within minutes. This ensures employees can resume work the same day a problem occurs.<\/p>\n

Built on Microsoft\u2019s Zero Trust principles, Windows 365 Reserve enforces organizational security policies. Data remains in the cloud, not on the connecting device, reducing risk when using personal or unmanaged hardware. Multi-factor authentication and quick access revocation further enhance security.<\/p>\n
