Microsoft Online Services: Price Decreases [2026-02]

Effective February 1, 2026, Microsoft will decrease pricing for its Commercial Cloud services in select local currencies to reflect the weakened US Dollar. This results in a -7.4% price adjustment for Euro-based purchases. This adjustment applies to cloud services only, while on-premises software pricing remains unchanged.

Note: Please be aware of the product-related price increases starting July 1, 2026: Microsoft 365 and Office 365: Price Increases [2026-07]

What’s Changing?

Microsoft is reducing prices for Commercial Cloud services in the following currencies:

Pricing Currency Cloud % Adjustment On-Prem % Adjustment
Swiss franc (CHF) -9.5% None
Danish krone (DKK) -7.4% None
Euro (EUR) -7.4% None
Norwegian krone (NOK) -7.2% None
Swedish krona (SEK) -13.5% None

Note: Percentage changes for individual SKUs may vary slightly due to pricing calculations and rounding rules.

Affected Product Categories

In practice, the price decrease applies to all Microsoft Commercial Cloud services billed in the affected currencies (CHF, DKK, EUR, NOK, SEK). This typically includes, but is not limited to:

Microsoft Price Decrease Products

  • Microsoft 365 and Office 365 subscriptions (Business, Enterprise, and Frontline plans)
  • Dynamics 365 subscriptions
  • Power Platform services (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate)
  • Microsoft Intune and Security add-ons
  • Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business
  • Other SaaS services under Microsoft Online Services

Azure Pricing: Unaffected

Note that this currency-based pricing announcement does not apply to Azure services purchased through a Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA), the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program, or directly via Microsoft’s online portal. Those Azure services are priced based on US dollars globally, and the exchange rate for the local currency is set on a monthly basis as before.

How Does The Price Decrease Apply?

1) Monthly Term

  • Price updates apply at the next billing cycle after 2026-02-01 for affected currencies (EUR, CHF, DKK, NOK, SEK).
  • If your subscription is on monthly term, you should see the lower price in your February invoice (assuming your billing date is on/after 2026-02-01).

2) Annual Term (paid monthly)

  • In CSP, the commercial price for the term is fixed at order/renewal.
  • Currency-based adjustments typically do not change the in-term monthly charge. They apply to new purchases and renewals.
  • Therefore, if you have an annual commitment, the rate generally stays the same until renewal. You would get the new, lower price when the subscription renews on/after 2026-02-01 (or when a new subscription is placed), not mid-term.

3) Annual Term (prepaid annually)

  • No change mid-term. The new lower price only applies at renewal (or for new orders placed on/after 2026-02-01).

4) Tri-Annual Term (paid full upfront or yearly upfront)

  • No change mid-term. The new lower price only applies at renewal (or for new orders placed on/after 2026-02-01).

Why Is Microsoft Doing This?

Microsoft reviews pricing to reflect currency fluctuations and maintain global consistency. This is done every 6 months (semi-annually). In September 2025, there were no currency-based adjustments.

Looking ahead

The next potential update could occur in September 2026 and will be announced in early June 2026. Any product-specific or consumer price changes will continue to be communicated separately.

What This Means for Customers

If your organization pays in EUR or any listed currency, all cloud-based subscriptions (except for Azure) in CSP will reflect the reduced price from February 1, 2026. This creates a window of opportunity between February 1, 2026, and July 1, 2026 (when Microsoft 365 and Office 365 price increases take effect) to:

  • Renew or extend subscriptions at the lower currency-adjusted price.
  • Combine this with multi-year commitments for maximum savings.
