Microsoft Windows 365 GPU-enabled Cloud PCs

From August 1, 2024, Microsoft Windows 365 GPU-Enabled Cloud PCs are available. These virtual desktops leverage GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) acceleration to handle graphics-intensive tasks.

What are GPU-enabled Cloud PCs?

Windows 365 Cloud PCs are virtual desktops hosted in the cloud, that provide users with a full Windows experience accessible from any device with an internet connection. Now, there are enhanced versions available, capable of handling more graphically demanding tasks. These so-called Windows 365 GPU-Enabled Cloud PCs are designed for professionals who work with demanding applications such as 3D modeling, video rendering, graphic design, and data visualization. Equipped with dedicated GPUs from NVIDIA or AMD, they provide the necessary graphics power to perform complex tasks faster and more efficiently. The hardware is hosted in Microsoft Azure.

Configurations

The GPU-enabled Cloud PCs are available in the following configurations:

  • 4 vCPU, 16 GB RAM, 4 GB vRAM, 512 GB: Suitable for basic graphic acceleration on one 3840×2160 or up to two 1920x1080p displays.
  • 8 vCPU, 56 GB RAM, 12 GB vRAM, 1 TB: Ideal for high-end graphics workloads on up to four 3840×2160 displays.
  • 16 vCPU, 110 GB RAM, 16 GB vRAM, 1 TB: Designed for the most demanding graphics workloads requiring a fully dedicated GPU.

These support various workloads and applications and allow organizations to choose the best option for their needs and budget.

Licensing

GPU-enabled Cloud PCs are available in the Windows 365 Enterprise edition only. GPU capabilities are offered as standalone GPU-enabled base SKUs, not as add-ons.

Storage Considerations

Windows 365 GPU-enabled Cloud PCs come with an SSD storage drive (c:) for data and applications and a large ephemeral disk (d:) for temporary files. The ephemeral disk is deleted and recreated every time the Cloud PC reboots, so it should not be used for storing data.
