On November 10, 2025, TeamViewer introduced Agentless Access, a new feature of its enterprise platform TeamViewer Tensor. This feature allows companies to remotely access and work on industrial machines and operational technology (OT) systems without installing any software on each device.
The Agentless Access capability is now available as part of TeamViewer Tensor, aiming to simplify industrial remote operations while maintaining strong cybersecurity and compliance in production environments.

What is TeamViewer Agentless Access?
TeamViewer Agentless Access is a remote connectivity feature designed for industrial environments. “Agentless” means that technicians do not need to install a TeamViewer client (software agent) on the target machines to control or monitor them. Instead, machines and devices on the factory floor can be accessed directly through TeamViewer Tensor’s interface. This approach is especially useful for operational technology equipment – such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and human–machine interfaces (HMIs) – where installing additional software might be impractical or prohibited. By eliminating the need to deploy software on each device, Agentless Access reduces complexity and avoids disrupting sensitive systems during remote maintenance or support tasks. In short, it provides a streamlined way to connect to critical industrial systems without altering their configuration or requiring downtime.
Key Features
- No installation required (truly “agentless”): Technicians can remotely access and control devices without deploying a TeamViewer program on every machine. This is ideal for equipment that cannot easily run extra software (for example, legacy controllers or closed systems).
- Centralized management of endpoints: All industrial endpoints – including older HMIs, PLCs, and other legacy or closed devices – can be managed and reached from a single platform. TeamViewer Tensor provides a central dashboard to configure connections to these devices, simplifying setup and oversight across highly segmented factory networks.
- Enhanced security and compliance: Agentless Access works with TeamViewer Tensor’s security features (such as its Hybrid Conditional Access system) to ensure all remote connections are secure and permission‑controlled. Organizations can enforce zero-trust principles with granular access controls, isolate communication protocols for safety, and maintain full audit logs of remote sessions. This helps protect critical production systems and meet regulatory compliance requirements without sacrificing connectivity.
- Minimal impact on operations: Because no software changes are made on the devices, maintenance and troubleshooting can be performed remotely without introducing risk or downtime. This agentless approach removes a major barrier that could otherwise disrupt operations. IT teams maintain governance and visibility over remote access, while local OT teams keep full control of their machines’ operation and safety. This means issues can be resolved faster and more safely, keeping production lines running.
- Bridging IT and OT needs: Agentless Access helps close the gap between Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) teams. Both groups can use a unified platform for remote access, which fosters collaboration without compromising each side’s requirements. For example, IT departments can enforce security policies and monitor access, while OT personnel retain the ability to allow or terminate connections on the shop floor. This unified approach ensures that operations stay secure and running – aligning with both IT security standards and OT uptime goals.
Licensing

TeamViewer Tensor and its add-ons are typically provided through subscription licensing (billed annually), which allows businesses to scale their usage as needed.
