Microsoft products transitioning to Extended Support 2025

The following products will be moving from Mainstream to Extended Support in 2025. Extended Support includes security updates at no cost and paid non-security updates and support. Additionally, Microsoft will not accept requests for design changes or new features during the Extended Support phase.

The following products and releases, governed by the Fixed Policy, will be moving from Mainstream to Extended Support in 2025:

Microsoft Robotics October 14, 2025

 

What is the Fixed Lifecycle Policy of Microsoft?

These changes happen according to the Fixed Lifecycle Policy of Microsoft. The Fixed Lifecycle Policy applies to many commercial and some consumer products currently available through retail purchase and/or volume licensing. It provides:

  • A defined support and servicing Lifecycle timeline at the time of product launch
  • A minimum of five years Mainstream Support
  • An additional period of Extended Support for some products.

 

What is the Extended Support phase of Microsoft products?

The Extended Support phase follows Mainstream Support. At the supported service pack level, Extended Support includes:

  • Paid support (Limited complimentary support may be available (varies by product))
  • Security updates at no additional cost.
