Nuance now part of Microsoft

On March 4, 2022, Microsoft completed its acquisition of Nuance Communications.

Nuance develops speech recognition solutions across all industries. This acquisition brings together Nuance’s conversational AI and ambient intelligence with Microsoft’s industry cloud offerings.

They were formerly known as ScanSoft, Inc. and changed their name to Nuance Communications, Inc. in October 2005.

Nuance is best known for these solutions:

  • Nuance Dragon Professional Anywhere Cloud: a cloud speech recognition solution, that works across your existing infrastructure of Windows-based devices, including virtualized and remote-access PCs. It allows dictating into Windows-based applications (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word), databases or company systems.
  • Nuance Dragon Anywhere Mobile: a speech recognition solution for iOS/Android phone or tablet, that is included in Dragon Professional Anywhere Cloud.
  • Nuance Dragon Medical One: an AI-based speech recognition solution optimized for reducing delays and improving communication flow in healthcare organizations.
