Effective April 1, 2022, the new Windows Server Subscription for Microsoft Azure Stack Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) is generally available.
This new option came with the launch of special Windows Server Subscriptions specifically to license the guest virtual machine (VM) operating systems on Azure Stack HCI. With this offer, you can purchase unlimited Windows Server guest licenses for your Azure Stack HCI cluster through your Azure subscription. You can sign up and cancel anytime.
As is usual with Windows Server, you license at the physical core level, and a Windows Server Subscription costs per physical core per month, with the first 60 days free. This licensing option may be less expensive than the traditional licensing model.
