Beginning October 1, 2025, Microsoft renamed its Microsoft 365 E5 “mini-suites”:
- Microsoft 365 E5 Security is now Microsoft Defender Suite.
- Microsoft 365 E5 Compliance is now Microsoft Purview Suite.
These changes apply globally and are effective immediately.

- Entra ID P2: Risk-based conditional access, identity governance, and privileged identity management.

- Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 2: Advanced email and collaboration security with automated investigation and phishing simulations.
- Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Plan 2: Endpoint detection and response with advanced threat hunting and expert support.
- Defender for Cloud Apps: SaaS security to block risky apps and detect unusual activity.
What is Microsoft Purview Suite?
Microsoft Purview Suite focuses on data protection and compliance. It helps organizations manage sensitive information, reduce insider risks, and meet regulatory requirements.

- Information Protection and Data Loss Prevention: Classify, label, and protect sensitive data across apps and devices.
- Insider Risk Management and Adaptive Protection: Detect and mitigate insider threats with automated policy adjustments.

Licensing
