Adobe Creative Cloud applications: AI Innovations, Assistants and Models

October 28, 2025 Adobe announced major updates to its Creative Cloud subscription at the Adobe MAX 2025 conference, including new names for business plans, changes in licensing, and modifications to generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) credit allocations. These changes aim to give creative users more AI-powered features and clarity in how those features are packaged for Teams (small to mid-size businesses) and Enterprise (large organizations).

What is Adobe Creative Cloud

Adobe Creative CloudAdobe Creative Cloud is a subscription service that provides access to a collection of Adobe’s popular creative applications and services. It includes over 20 industry-standard apps such as Adobe Photoshop (image editing), Illustrator (vector graphics), InDesign (publishing), Premiere Pro (video editing), Acrobat (PDF tools), and more. Creative Cloud is offered in plans for individuals, Teams (for business workgroups), and Enterprise (for organizations), each tailored with appropriate features and support. The 2025 updates primarily affect the business plans (Teams and Enterprise), especially regarding AI features and how they are licensed.

Key Features

At Adobe MAX 2025, Adobe introduced several new Creative Cloud features and improvements, largely focused on AI capabilities, to help users create content more efficiently:

  • AI Assistant in Photoshop: Adobe Photoshop now includes a built-in AI assistant that can understand natural language instructions. Users can chat with this assistant to automate repetitive tasks and get design recommendations, all while retaining full creative control. This helps speed up workflows (for example, you can ask the assistant to apply a series of edits or adjustments automatically).
  • Improved Generative Fill and Upscaling: Photoshop’s Generative Fill feature (which creates or removes image content based on text prompts) was enhanced with additional AI models from Adobe’s partners (such as Google and others) for more precise, realistic results. A new Generative Upscale tool uses AI technology (including Topaz Labs’ model) to increase image resolution up to 4K, allowing small or low-quality images to be enlarged with high detail. These generative tools let users add details or improve image quality by simply describing what they need.
  • Firefly Boards and AI in Adobe Express: Adobe Firefly – the all-in-one generative AI studio – introduced Firefly Boards, a collaborative canvas for brainstorming and creating images with AI. Teams can use Firefly Boards (beta) to experiment with concepts together, with new capabilities like one-click style presets and prompt suggestions for faster ideation. Adobe also integrated conversational AI assistants into apps like Adobe Express (a web-based design tool), so users can generate designs or images by describing their ideas in simple language. This makes advanced AI features accessible even to non-expert users.
  • Other Application Enhancements: Many Creative Cloud applications received performance boosts and smaller feature updates (over 100 improvements in total). For example, Premiere Pro (video editor) can now automatically identify and mask objects or people in video frames, making tasks like background blurring or color grading faster since manual rotoscoping isn’t needed. Lightroom (photo editor) gained an Assisted Culling feature that uses AI to help photographers quickly select the best photos from a large batch, filtering out less sharp or poorly composed shots. These enhancements save time and reduce tedious manual work for creative professionals.

Licensing

Adobe also updated how Creative Cloud is packaged and licensed, particularly for Teams and Enterprise customers, to reflect the new AI capabilities:

  • Teams – Creative Cloud Pro: Adobe renamed the “Creative Cloud for teams All Apps” plan to Creative Cloud Pro for teams. This plan (which includes all the major Creative Cloud apps) now comes with expanded generative AI benefits. Notably, users get unlimited standard generative image and vector creations (using features like Generative Fill) – previously these were capped per month. In addition, the plan’s monthly generative AI credit allocation for premium features (such as AI-driven video or audio generation) increased to 4,000 credits per user (up from 1,000). These credits allow generation of things like dozens of short AI videos or audio translations each month. The plan’s name change and upgrades took effect upon customers’ renewal dates in mid-to-late 2025, accompanied by roughly an 10–11% price increase to about $99.99 per license per month (to account for the added value). Another new perk for teams is unlimited Adobe Stock standard assets included in the Pro plan, giving users access to Adobe’s stock image library at no extra cost. (This was not included in the old plan.) The higher-tier “All Apps Pro Edition” has likewise been renamed Creative Cloud Pro Plus for teams, inheriting all the above AI benefits and adding extra business features like content Intellectual Property (IP) indemnification (insurance against copyright claims, up to $10,000 per asset). The Pro Plus plan is priced slightly higher (about a 10% increase over its previous price) and is generally obtained via Adobe resellers or enterprise channels.
  • Enterprise – Creative Cloud Edition 4: For large organizations, the top-tier Creative Cloud for enterprise Edition 4 plan similarly received AI-related upgrades. Effective July 1, 2025, enterprise Edition 4 subscriptions gained an increase to 4,000 generative AI credits per user per month (up from 3,000 previously), plus unlimited standard generative outputs (images/vectors, etc., no monthly limit) just like the Teams plans. This ensures enterprise users can extensively use AI features without running out of base credits. Premium generative features for audio and video are included in this highest-tier enterprise plan by default. The plan’s pricing was adjusted around ~6% higher at renewal after July 2025 to reflect these enhancements. Enterprise customers on Edition 4 also now enjoy unlimited Adobe Stock (standard) asset access and even greater IP indemnification coverage (up to $3 million per asset for enterprise agreements) as part of the plan.
  • Firefly Generative AI Licenses: In addition to bundling more AI capacity into the main plans, Adobe introduced standalone Adobe Firefly subscriptions for those who need extra generative AI usage or who use AI features separately. These come in Standard, Pro, and Premium tiers for both Teams and Enterprise customers. They are essentially add-on licenses that provide dedicated generative AI credits each month, without requiring a full Creative Cloud plan upgrade. For example, Firefly Standard costs about $9.99 per user/month and provides 2,000 generative credits monthly; Firefly Pro is about $29.99 with 7,000 credits; and Firefly Premium is $199.99 with 50,000 credits per month. Organizations can purchase these to enable heavy use of AI image, video, and audio generation for specific users or teams. All Firefly plans include the core Firefly app and features (for generating images, text effects, audio, etc.), with higher tiers unlocking more usage and some advanced capabilities like more video generation minutes. This flexible licensing approach allows businesses to experiment with Adobe’s generative AI tools in a cost-effective way, scaling up as needed.
