Updated 2026-07-06:
Microsoft has published a separate notice about minor pricing precision updates for select Microsoft 365 and Office 365 SKUs in certain European currencies. According to Microsoft, these are small, compliance-driven pricing precision adjustments and not a new product price increase. The broader July 2026 Microsoft 365 / Office 365 price increases remain unchanged, but some listed prices in EUR, DKK, NOK, SEK, and CHF may differ slightly because of this technical update.
Standalones affected: Effective July 1, 2026, Microsoft will increase prices for various standalone licenses, as announced on February 16. These increases will complement the previously announced pricing adjustments for Microsoft 365 and Office 365 suites that will also take effect on July 1, 2026.
These changes reflect the addition of new AI-driven productivity tools, enhanced security features, and advanced management capabilities. Organizations should prepare now to avoid unexpected cost impacts.
Note: Before the price increases there will also be currency-based price decreases coming on February 1, 2026, which you can find here: Microsoft Online Services: Price Decreases [2026-02]

Additional clarification for customers billed in certain European currencies
Microsoft has published a separate announcement covering minor pricing precision updates for select Microsoft 365 and Office 365 SKUs, effective July 1, 2026. Microsoft describes these as small pricing adjustments required for EU settlement compliance and explicitly states that they are separate from the broader July 2026 Microsoft 365 pricing and packaging update.
- This is not a second major price increase. Microsoft presents it as a pricing precision update, not a new round of product repricing.
- The scope is limited. The update applies only to select SKUs and certain European-currency price points, including selected Frontline, Business, Enterprise, and Teams-related offers.
- For existing customers, the practical impact should be limited. The main customer-facing effect is that some quotes, listed prices, or renewal expectations in EUR, DKK, NOK, SEK, and CHF may now show small differences.
- The main July 2026 pricing story remains unchanged. This newer Microsoft notice is best understood as a technical pricing clarification for certain currencies, not as a change to the previously announced broader Microsoft 365 / Office 365 price increases.
- To avoid confusion, do not describe this as another broad Microsoft price hike. A clearer description is “minor pricing precision update” or “technical pricing adjustment.”

Why Is Microsoft Making This Change?
Microsoft is fundamentally reshaping its offerings to support an AI-powered future. The development and integration of tools like Copilot, advanced security layers, and endpoint management require significant R&D investment and infrastructure costs. To recover these costs and sustain innovation, Microsoft is bundling these capabilities into core suites and adjusting pricing accordingly.
These additions can deliver real benefits and may even save licensing costs, if separate licenses are not required anymore. They may, however, not be equally relevant for every organization or user. We expect core licenses to remain the most viable option, especially when applying discounts via promotions.
Do I Get The New Capabilities When Renewing With Current Prices?
Microsoft has not made any announcements in this regard, so no reliable answer can be given. However, historically: yes. Microsoft applies feature additions to all active subscriptions for that SKU once the feature becomes generally available, even if the subscription was purchased before the price change. This means customers who renew early at the old price typically still receive the new capabilities when they roll out. In this case, it would mean, that the new capabilities would become available from July 1, 2026.
What Should We Do Now?
