Effective November 1, 2025, Microsoft will implement price increases for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, while increasing the included storage capacity per license. This change was previously announced for October 1, 2025. This marks the first pricing update in over five years and introduces a license repackaging that offers more value at a higher price. Learn about the changes and what to do now in this article.
Pricing & Storage changes
Starting November 1, 2025, the following pricing and storage changes will apply:
| License Type | Current Price & Storage* | New Price & Storage* | Price Increase | Storage Increase |
| Essentials | $70/month with 2GB | $80/month with 3GB | 14.3% | 50.0% |
| Premium | $100/month with 3GB | $110/month with 5GB | 10.0% | 66.7% |
| Device | $40/month with 1GB | $45/month with 1.5GB | 12.5% | 50.0% |
*All prices shown are are for informational purposes only, subject to change and may vary depending on specific circumstances or market conditions. Please request an offer.
These changes apply to new subscriptions and to existing subscriptions upon their first renewal on or after November 1, 2025. Prices are per user or per device, per month, and may vary by region and currency. Licenses purchased before November 1, 2025, will be billed at the current price until their renewal date.
How does this affect multi-tenant environments?
In multi-tenant environments—where a single instance of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central serves multiple business units or subsidiaries—storage allocation is a critical factor. With the new licensing changes effective November 1, 2025, each license purchased on or after that date includes more built-in storage:
- Essentials: from 2GB to 3GB
- Premium: from 3GB to 5GB
- Device: from 1GB to 1,5GB
This increase applies per license, not per tenant. That means the more user or device licenses you have across your tenants, the more cumulative storage your environment accrues. For example, if your organization holds 50 Premium licenses, your total included storage increases from 150GB to 250GB.
This is especially beneficial in multi-tenant setups where data volume grows rapidly across departments or subsidiaries. It reduces the need to purchase additional storage add-ons, simplifies cost forecasting, and ensures smoother scalability as your organization expands its use of this software.
Why was this packaging change delayed to November 1, 2025?
The change was delayed to allow partners and customers additional time to communicate and adjust to global price changes.
Are there any changes to functionality?
No, the core functionality remains the same. However, Microsoft continues to add new features, including AI enhancements and deeper analytics, and more storage is included.
Do I get more storage on my existing licenses without renewing after November 1, 2025?
No, you will not receive the increased storage on your existing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central licenses until they are renewed on or after November 1, 2025.
The updated storage entitlements—3GB for Essentials, 5GB for Premium, and 1.5GB for Device licenses—are tied to the new pricing model.
This means that if your current subscription renews before November 1, 2025, it will continue under the old pricing and storage terms until the next renewal cycle. Only after that renewal will the increased storage be applied.
